I'm interested to see how this update changes the reaction of the community to TS4, as it's been less than positive over the past two years when compared with the past two versions of the game.
Time will tell. In my opinion, if a production team (or most likely management) messed up for this long, it's not safe to trust them with money just yet. I'll be giving it a bit more time before Maxis returns to my buy list.
I don't think it's wise to buy the snake oil just yet.
Edit: SimguruNinja has responded with a nice explanation for long-term protesters.:
- Toddlers are something we've desperately wanted to do since we launched. And for free as a patch too - not paid content. We felt strongly about that and it was very important to us. It took time to get everything in order (balancing SP, GP, EP, and free content development simultaneously is no easy task. It's actually quite challenging). Simple as that.
Trust me, at several points we wanted to scream from the highest mountaintop "THEY'RE COMING!" but were simply unable to. So we kept our heads down, weathered the repeated feedback, and did our best to get quality content into your hands as soon as we possibly could.
While it seems they would have come faster should simultaneous EP/SP/GP development not have been an issue, given the less than brilliant reception to TS4, for monetary purposes it's logical.
LAWD, I really hope they learned their lesson with this game. The fact that the management team is gone is s good sign, hopefully.
